White Noise Alpha: Anonymous Nostr DMs and Encrypted Group Chat on Bitcoin-Native Identity

White Noise, a new privacy-centric messaging app, launched its alpha v0.1.0 in public beta. Built on Nostr's decentralized identity system using Bitcoin keys and the IETF's Messaging Layer Security (MLS) protocol, it introduces an anonymization protocol that hides sensitive metadata. Paired with end-to-end encrypted group chats and direct messages, it promises to turn Nostr from an early-adopter technology into a viable alternative to WhatsApp, Signal, or Telegram. Founder Max Hillebrand (former Wasabi Wallet contributor) aims to solve Nostr's lack of private group chats and anonymous DMs. The open-source alpha invites audits from the privacy and Bitcoin community.
